Tankless Water Heater WILL Solve Dilemma

Cincinnati’s Water Heater Dilemma is that traditional tank type water heating technology is approximately 100 years old. Many of the homes in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky have the same technology for a water heater that was around when the home was originally built. Much of that technology has been replaced with new innovative ideas such as the tankless water heater.  So before replacing your conventional hot water heater with last century’s innovation, it is best to talk to one of our skilled technicians about your options.  There are several options to choose from that are also ENERGY STAR rated.

Cincinnati’s Water Heater Dilemma

About half the Cincinnati homes we are in are gas, and tankless water Heaters come in either gas or electric.  These hot water heaters take up 90% less space than a traditional tank type hot water heater.  These hot water heaters also offer you on demand or what is also called endless hot water.  With up to 250 gallons an hour you don’t have to worry about running out of hot water!  The tankless water heater can also cut your energy cost since they do not have to continually heat the water that is in the tank.  It does not heat the water until hot water is demanded.  Plus with a life expectancy of 15 to 20 years it is a great option.  Some water, like hard water, could shorten the life of your water heater but with preventative maintenance you can prolong its life.

The tank type electric water heater and gas water heater have been around for approximately 100 years.  The tank type hot water heaters cycle the water on a regular basis to heat and reheat the water at the set temperature.  The tanks come in different sizes so the electric water heater or gas water heater will need to be “sized” correctly for peak demand to insure you do not run out of hot water.  Factors to consider while sizing your gas water heater or electric water heater are the amount of people in your household, how many and how long your showers might take.  You also have to put into consideration if you will be running your dishwasher or washing machine at the same time.  If the hot water heater size is to small you will have to limit the amount of hot water usage at one time to give the tank long enough to heat up more water. Tank type hot water heaters should last around 10 to 11 years but hard water will shorten its life.  With preventative maintenance you can solve your Cincinnati water heater dilemma.
